Nintendo DS Original Stamp

I bought my Nintendo DS on or a little after the DS Lite came out. The DS had been out and about for about two years, and there are still many of the original consoles available for purchase.

Recently, Nintendo has decided to release a Web browser cartridge for the DS. However, the DS original will get its browser months after the Lite, and you can only purchase it online whereas owners of the Lite can buy theirs in brick and mortar stores.

This stamp sort of expresses my feelings regarding Nintendo's recent treatment of their DS Original customers.

NEWS EDIT: Apparently, the DS Lite has a repetitive stress disorder with its left hinge. Many DS Lite users in the US, Japan and Europe are reporting cracks in the hinge's housing. [link]

I've noticed that DS Lite users refer to the DS Original as the DS Brick, or Phatty. Yet, the DS Original doesn't have this hinge problem. Smaller isn't necessarily better.

Commentary: I've noticed that recently Nintendo has been releasing rapidly successive versions of the DS. First, the DSi, then the DSi XL, and now the 3DS. Each one coming our for the others can even lose that newly manufactured smell in the stores. Yo, Nintendo, what's the deal? Why are you glutting the market with these things? Put everything you want to put in the darned thing and let it go for a few years. Geeze.

I'm thinking the DSi XL may be the way to go for me should my current model crap out on me. It's actually close to the size of the original with bigger screens. Nice. Though why the silly thing has two styli is beyond me. Just another bit piece to lose, I suppose.
